THE STRAIGHT STORY / 1999
BY DAVID LYNCH
WITH JOHN ROACH & MARY SWEENEY
The Straight Story is a 1999 drama film directed by David Lynch. The film is based on the true story of Alvin Straight's 1994 journey across Iowa and Wisconsin on a lawnmower. Alvin (Richard Farnsworth) is an elderly World War II veteran who lives with his daughter Rose (Sissy Spacek), a kind woman with a mental disability. When he hears that his estranged brother Lyle (Harry Dean Stanton) has suffered a stroke, Alvin makes up his mind to go visit him and hopefully make amends before he dies. But because Alvin's legs and eyes are too impaired for him to receive a driving license, he hitches a trailer to his recently purchased thirty year-old John Deere Lawn tractor.

SALO
BY PIER PAOLO PASOLINI / 1975
Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom , commonly referred to as simply Salò, is a 1975 Italian film written and directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini,
It is based on the book The 120 Days of Sodom, by the Marquis de Sade.
The story is in four segments, inspired by Dante's Inferno: the Anteinferno, the Circle of Manias, the Circle of Shit and the Circle of Blood. It was Pasolini's last film; he was murdered shortly before Salò was released.
Because of its scenes depicting intensely graphic violence, sadism and sexual depravity, the film was extremely controversial upon its release, and remains banned in several countries.
